答。真妄無性。常契一原。豈有二心而互相即。以性淨無染。妄不可得。如幻刀不能斫石。苦霧不能染空。為不了一心之人。所以說即。

Answer: Truth and delusion have no nature of their own; they constantly accord with a single source. How could there be two cittas that are mutually identical? Because the nature is pure and undefiled, delusion cannot be found. Just as an illusory knife cannot cut stone, and a bitter fog cannot defile the sky. It is for the person who has not comprehended the one mind that identity is spoken of.
