17.12

問。夫成佛門。若論修善。則有前後。若是性善。本一心平等。諸佛既有性惡。闡提亦有性善。既同一性。俱合成佛。云何闡提不成佛耶。

Question: Regarding the gate of attaining buddhahood, if one discusses cultivated goodness, then there is earlier and later. If it is natural goodness, it is originally equal in the one mind. Since all buddhas possess natural evil, and icchantikas also possess natural goodness, since they share the same single nature, they both ought to become buddhas. Why do icchantikas not become buddhas?
