問。夫戒是軌持。全依事相。大綱所立。出自四分等律文。今宗鏡中。云何於萬行之門。皆稱第一。

Question: Precepts are guidelines and standards entirely based on phenomenal characteristics; their general outline was established in Vinaya texts such as the Four-Part Vinaya. Now, in this Mirror of the Source, why are they called foremost among all the gates of myriad practices?
