23.26

問。如上所說。即心成佛之旨。事已皎然。只如禪宗從上先德云。如今須知十方諸佛出身處。空知有佛。不得成佛。如何是諸佛出身處。

Question: As stated above, the purport that citta is itself the Buddha is already abundantly clear. Yet, as past worthies of the Chan lineage have said from of old: "Now one must know the birthplace of the Buddhas of the ten directions; merely knowing that there is a Buddha will not allow one to attain Buddhahood." What is the birthplace of all Buddhas?
