答。雖本平等。隱顯有殊。隱名如來藏。顯名法身。起信疏云。但眾生迷自真理。起於妄念。是時真如。俱現染相。不顯其用。

Answer: Although originally equal, their latency and manifestation differ. In latency, it is called the tathāgatagarbha; in manifestation, it is called the dharmakāya. The Commentary on the Awakening of Faith states: 'Sentient beings are merely deluded about their own true principle and give rise to deluded thoughts. At this time, tathatā entirely manifests defiled characteristics, and does not manifest its functions.'
