答。帶質有二。一真帶質。以心緣心。如第七緣第八。第六緣餘識。二似帶質。心緣色故。即此所觀。帶彼質故。通似帶質。

Answer: There are two kinds of objects with a substance: 1. True objects with a substance, where mind takes mind as a condition, as when the seventh takes the eighth, or the sixth takes the other consciousnesses as conditions. 2. Apparent objects with a substance, because mind takes form as a condition. Thus this object contemplated, because it bears that substance, is generally an apparent object with a substance.
