36.24

答。三依皆具。一因緣依。能觀心等有自種。子為因緣依。現依種故。亦名種子依。二俱有依。謂六根處。能與諸心心所為依故。今能觀第六用七八二識為所依故。亦名增上緣依。三開導依。謂前念心心所。開避引導後念心心所。取前念心王。名開導依。後念必依前念生故。即現在心望後念心。假名前念。亦名等無間緣依。

Answer: All three supports are complete: 1. Causal condition support: the contemplating mind and so forth have their own seeds as their causal condition support; because the manifest relies on the seeds, it is also called the seed support. 2. Co-existent support: the locations of the six faculties can serve as support for the various minds and mental factors; now the contemplating sixth takes the seventh and eighth consciousnesses as its support, and is also called the dominant condition support. 3. Opening and guiding support: the minds and mental factors of the preceding thought open the way and guide the minds and mental factors of the succeeding thought; taking the preceding mind-king is called the opening and guiding support, because the succeeding thought must arise relying on the preceding thought; thus the present mind viewed against the succeeding thought is provisionally named the preceding thought, and is also called the immediately preceding condition support.
