問。從上宗乘。唯令絕學。單刀直入。教外別傳。何假智慧多聞。廣論性相。言繁理隱。水動珠昏。

Question: The ancestral lineage from of old only bids people to abandon learning, make a single blade cut straight in, and transmit separately outside the teachings. Why rely on wisdom and broad learning to discuss nature and characteristics at length? When words proliferate, principle is obscured; when water is agitated, the pearl is clouded.
