答。只熏根身器界種。緣種子境。即不熏種。恐犯無窮過故。其第六緣五根及種子境時。皆是獨影境。有說。是性境者。即須相分是實。便有兩重五根現行。犯有情界增過。故知不可。

Answer: It only perfumes the seeds of the bodily faculties and the receptacle world. When cognizing the object of seeds, it does not perfume seeds, for fear of committing the fallacy of infinite regress. When the sixth consciousness cognizes the five sense organs and the object of seeds, these are all solitary shadow objects (adhimokṣa-pratibhāsa). Some say they are actual objects (vastu-viṣaya); in that case, the nimittabhāga must be real, and there would be a double set of five active sense organs, committing the fallacy of an increase in the realm of sentient beings. Therefore, we know this is untenable.
