50.14

問。大小等乘。皆從意識能起威儀。以第六意識是滅定所厭。即第六意識已無。縱有第七平等性智。且非起威儀之識。第八識雖許持緣。亦非能起威儀。如何說能引起威儀耶。

Question: Both Mahāyāna and Hīnayāna give rise to deportment from the manovijñāna. Since the sixth manovijñāna is what is loathed in the cessation absorption, the sixth manovijñāna is already absent. Even if the seventh equality wisdom exists, it is not a consciousness that gives rise to deportment. Although the eighth consciousness is accepted as holding conditions, it also cannot give rise to deportment. How can it be said that it can induce deportment?
