答。今此是宗依。但他宗中有不離義。便得以小乘許眼識緣色。親取其體。有不離義。兼許眼識。當體亦不離眼識。故無能別不極成過。

Answer: Here, this is the basis of the thesis (pakṣa-saṃbandhin). So long as there is an unseparated sense within the other tradition, it can be employed: because the Hīnayāna accepts that visual consciousness cognises matter, taking its substance directly, there is the sense of non-separation; and in addition, they accept that visual consciousness itself is essentially not separate from visual consciousness; therefore, there is no fallacy of an unestablished qualifier.
