答。執第八見分。思量有我法故。二乘無學無我執。以思量法我執故名意。佛果我法二執俱無。恒審思量無我理。佛果第七亦名意。

Answer: It grasps at the darśanabhāga of the eighth, pondering it as possessing self and dharmas. The non-learners of the two vehicles are free of the grasping at self; because they ponder the grasping at the dharma-self, [the seventh] is named manas. In the Buddha-fruit, both graspings at self and dharmas are absent; it constantly and deliberately ponders the principle of non-self, so the seventh in the Buddha-fruit is also named manas.
