66.15

又大智度論云。問曰。心所趣向。心為去。為不去。若去。此則無心。猶如死人。若不去。云何能緣。如佛言。依意緣法。意識生。意若不去。則無和合。

Furthermore, the Mahāprajñāpāramitopadeśa says: 'Question: "As for the direction toward which the mind tends, does the mind go, or does it not go? If it goes, then this [body] would be mindless, just like a dead person. If it does not go, how can it take an object? As the Buddha said: 'Dependent on the manas and taking dharmas as conditions, manovijñāna arises.' If the manas does not go, then there is no combination."
