68.21

答。識論云。不相應行。亦非實有。所以者何。得非得等。非如色心及諸心所。體相可得。非異色心及諸心所。作用可得。由此故知。定非實有。但依色等分位假立。此定非異色心心所有實體用。

Answer: The Vijñaptimātratāsiddhiśāstra says: 'Non-concurrent formations are also not truly existent. Why is this? Acquisition, non-acquisition, and the like do not have substances and characteristics that can be found like form, mind, and the various caittas; nor do they have functions that can be found apart from form, mind, and the various caittas. From this it is known that they are definitely not truly existent, but are merely conventionally established on the basis of states of form, etc. These definitely do not have real substances and functions apart from form, citta, and caittas.'
