答。現熏種。雖同念。然又闕因沈隱。果顯現義。亦非因緣依。故知唯取真因緣義名依。都具三義。方名因緣依。一是主。即種是主。二因沈隱。果顯現。即簡現熏種。三因果同時。即簡種生種。

Answer: Although manifest activity perfuming a seed is in the same moment, it lacks the sense of the cause being hidden and submerged while the fruit is manifest; therefore, it is also not the basis as causal condition. Hence we know that only taking the meaning of the true causal condition is it called a basis. Only when fully possessing three meanings is it called the basis as causal condition: first, being dominant, which means the seed is dominant; second, the cause is hidden and submerged while the fruit is manifest, which excludes manifest activity perfuming a seed; third, cause and effect are simultaneous, which excludes seed generating seed.
