答。瑜伽論云。造惡業者。中有。如黑羺光。或陰闇夜。造善業者。中有。如白衣光。或晴明夜。寶積經云。地獄中有。如燒了杌本。傍生中有。如煙。餓鬼中有。如水。人天中有。如白衣光。

Answer: The Yogācārabhūmi says: the intermediate existence of those who have created unwholesome karma is like the light of a black ram, or a dark, cloudy night; the intermediate existence of those who have created wholesome karma is like the light of white clothing, or a clear and bright night. The Ratnakūṭasūtra says: the intermediate existence of hell is like a burnt tree trunk; the intermediate existence of animals is like smoke; the intermediate existence of hungry ghosts is like water; the intermediate existence of humans and devas is like the light of white clothing.
