A verse in the Maitreyavyākaraṇasūtra says: 'For long I contemplated the suffering of sentient beings, / wishing to pull them out, yet there was no way to free them. / Today, realizing bodhi, / broadly and open, there is nothing at all.' / Explanation: Thought after thought, the conscious mind攀 climbs conditions and is bound to dust realms, failing to attain ease and freedom; this is the suffering of sentient beings. If one understands that realms are empty and without bondage, inner fetters do not arise; realizing and meeting the one mind, sense faculties and dust are both stilled, and one immediately enters the dharmadhātu of empty nature and realizes markless bodhi. Therefore, the Saddharmapuṇḍarīkasamādhisūtra says: 'Without attachment and without reliance, / unburdened, the mind is tranquil and ceased; / the original nature is like empty space: / this is named the Unsurpassed Way.' Furthermore, the Saddharmapuṇḍarīkasūtra says: 'All buddhas here attain anuttarā samyaksaṃbodhi; all buddhas here turn the wheel of Dharma; all buddhas here enter parinirvāṇa.' Therefore, the buddhas' attaining the Way through the eight aspects and the bodhisattvas' delivering sentient beings through the four means of embracing—both benefiting oneself and benefiting others—are all accomplished within this emptiness of the original nature.
