98.23

臥輪禪師云。詳其心性。湛若虛空。本來不生。是亦不滅。何須收捺。但覺心起。即須向內反照心原。無有根本。即無生處。無生處故。心即寂靜。無相無為。

Dhyāna Master Wolun said: "Examining this mind-nature, it is clear as empty space, fundamentally unarisen and likewise unceasing. Why must one suppress it? Just notice the mind arising, and one must immediately turn inward to reflect back on the source of the mind. Having no root, it has no place of arising. Because it has no place of arising, the mind is tranquil, without characteristics and without contrivance."
