An ancient master asked: If sentient beings and all buddhas share the same one mind and buddha-nature, and equally possess the dharmakāya, then there are two faults: First, all sentient beings ought to attain buddhahood, and then the realm of sentient beings would be exhausted. Second, the bodhisattvas would lack the practice of benefiting others, because there would be no candidates to be transformed.
