Answer: Kalpas, lands, and names are distinct predictions manifested within the world-transcending conversion gates. If you wish to know the true prediction, the Vimalakīrtinirdeśasūtra says: 'All sentient beings are likewise tathatā; all phenomena are likewise tathatā.' A verse in the Avataṃsakasūtra says: 'Manifesting the Buddha's sovereign power, / Just as expounded in the perfect sūtra, / Immeasurable sentient beings / All receive the prediction of bodhi.' Another verse says: 'In each and every thought of the mind, / Universally contemplating all phenomena, / Abiding securely in the ground of tathatā, / Fully comprehending the ocean of all phenomena.' Another verse says: 'Within each and every minute dust mote, / One is able to realize all phenomena; / Thus unobstructed, / One travels universally throughout the lands of the ten directions.' This shows that persons and phenomena, mind and objects, are all predicted to attain Buddhahood. Because one thought is complete and one dust mote lacks nothing, thought after thought realizes reality, and dust mote after dust mote accords with the substance. Dwelling together in the Land of Eternally Quiescent Light, all are named Vairocana. There are ultimately no different lands or separate bodies, nor the holy being superior and the ordinary inferior. Attaining the path at the same time as the Buddhas of the three periods, sentiments of earlier and later vanish. Entering nirvāṇa on the same day as the ten categories of living beings, views of beginning and end are severed. One is spared from giving rise to the deluded understanding of sentient and insentient, and from producing deviant thoughts of inside the mind and outside the mind. It can be said that above there is nothing to seek, and below there is no one to convert. Merging with the true and treading upon the real, one obtains the root and returns to the source, together ascending the gate of liberation of single equality and completely receiving the prediction of equal bodhi.
