The equal, true mind is the buddha-wisdom of all living beings. Although possessed equally, faith and understanding are difficult to generate; many harbor fox-like doubts, while few are able to realize it fully. Even with the sharp wisdom of a pratyekabuddha, the superior faculties of Śāriputra, or even the great bodhisattvas in the non-retrogressing stage, exhausting their thoughts and expending their efforts, they cannot fathom its source; with skillful eloquence and marvelous spiritual penetrations, they do not know its bounds. We hope again to clarify the teaching and principle and point them out with certainty, revealing the great purport before our eyes and severing the slightest doubt in the ground of the mind.
