The Dharmasaṃgītisūtra states: “To be able to know that everything is only one mind is called sovereignty over citta. Manifesting various precious jewels in the palm of one’s hand, and using empty space as a storehouse, is called sovereignty over material things. Having all bodily, verbal, and mental karmas rooted in wisdom is called sovereignty over wisdom.” It also states: “Avalokiteśvara said to the Buddha: ‘Bodhisattva, if you uphold a single dharma, all dharmas of the Buddhas will naturally be as if in the palm of your hand. What is this single dharma? It is great compassion.’” Explanation: This is great compassion of identical substance. Because the nature of this compassion pervades the entire realm of sentient beings, it can moisten universally with a single rain, causing both orchids and mugwort to flourish alike; in a single thought all are encompassed, rescuing both the deviant and the correct.
