Venerable Nanquan said: "Dīpaṃkara Buddha already explained it. If whatever thoughts and reflections the mind conceives give rise to all dharmas, these are false and conventional collections, and none of them are real. Why? The mind itself does not even exist, so what could be produced? If one grasps at dharmas, it is like distinguishing empty space, or like someone capturing a sound and placing it in a box, or like blowing into a net hoping to fill it with air." He also said: "Nowadays, simply understand the principle of the one thusness and cultivate straight away." He also said: "Simply understanding that the nature has not changed throughout immeasurable kalpas is itself cultivation."
