The Anle ji says: 'Question: For what reason can the power of a single thought of the Buddha sever all obstacles? Answer: As the sūtra says: "For example, suppose someone uses lion sinews to make the strings of a lute; once the sound is played, all other strings break and snap. If a person practices the buddha-mindfulness samādhi within the bodhi-mind, all kleśas and all obstacles will be entirely cut off and eliminated. It is also like someone milking cattle, sheep, donkeys, and horses of all kinds of milk and placing them in a single vessel; if a single drop of lion's milk is cast into it, it passes straight through without hindrance, and all the various milks are broken and destroyed, turning into clear water. If a person is only able to practice the buddha-mindfulness samādhi within the bodhi-mind, all evil māras and obstacles will be passed straight through without hindrance."'
