"Or they may bestow fearlessness and skilfully harmonize disputes; pity the orphaned and destitute, and rescue those in difficulty and peril. Their merit is received in the Brahmā heaven, their practice equals that of the Greatly Awakened One; their cause is strong and fruit supreme, their virtue abundant and retribution profound. The Avataṃsaka Sūtra says: 'Again, emitting a light named "Fearlessness", / this light touches those who are terrified; / all poisonous harms caused by non-humans / are all caused to be swiftly eradicated. / Able to bestow fearlessness upon sentient beings, / exhorting against harm whenever distress is met, / and rescuing those in peril, difficulty, loneliness, and poverty: / through this, this light was accomplished.'
