2.43

佛鑑曰。先師聞真淨遷化。設位辦供哀哭過禮。嘆曰。斯人難得。見道根柢不帶枝葉。惜其早亡。殊未聞有繼其道者。江西叢林自此寂寥耳（日錄）。

Fojian said: "When the late teacher heard that Zhenjing had passed away, he arranged a memorial seat, prepared offerings, and wept with grief beyond the rites. Sighing, he said, 'Such a person is rare to find. His insight into the Way penetrated to the root without clinging to branches and leaves. What a pity that he died so young! I have not heard of anyone who can succeed to his Way at all. From this point on, the monastic groves of Jiangxi will be desolate and lonely.'" (Rilu)
