2.28

卿已出家永辭宗族。無親無疎清淨無欲。吉則不歡凶則不慼。
超然縱容豁然離俗。志存玄妙軌真守樸。
得度廣濟普蒙福祿。如何無心仍著染觸。
空諍長短銖兩升斛。與世諍利何盡僮僕。
經道不明德行不足。如是出家徒自毀辱。
今故誨示宜自洗浴。

You have already left home, taking leave of your clan forever.
Having neither kin nor strangers, remain pure and free from desires.
Do not rejoice in good fortune; do not grieve over calamity.
Transcend and be carefree, open and detached from the mundane.
Fix your will upon the profound and marvelous; emulate truth and preserve simplicity.
Attaining deliverance to broadly save, all will receive blessings and prosperity.
How is it that with no [spiritual] mind, you still cling to defiling contacts,
Arguing in vain over lengths, drams and ounces, pints and pecks?
Contending for gain with the world, how are you any different from servants?
The scriptures and Way are not illuminated, and virtuous conduct is insufficient.
Leaving home in such a manner, you merely bring disgrace upon yourselves.
Now, therefore, I instruct and indicate: you should wash and purify yourselves!
