卿已出家不可自寬。形雖鄙陋使行可觀。衣服雖麁坐起令端。
飲食雖疎出言可飡。夏則忍熱冬則忍寒。
能自守節不飲盜泉。不肖之供足不妄前。
久處私室如臨至尊。學雖不多可齊上賢。
如是出家足報二親。宗族知識一切蒙恩。
今故誡汝宜各自敦。

You have already left home; you must not indulge yourself. / Though your appearance may be rustic and base, let your conduct be worthy of regard; / Though your robes may be coarse, let your sitting and rising be dignified; / Though your food and drink may be meager, let the words you speak be wholesome sustenance; / In summer, endure the heat; in winter, endure the cold. / Be able to maintain your integrity, not drinking from the Thieving Spring; / Before the offerings of the unworthy, let your feet not rashly advance. / Even when dwelling long in a private room, act as if facing the Supreme Lord; / Though your learning may not be vast, you can equal the superior worthies. / Leaving home in this manner is fully sufficient to repay your two parents; / Your kin, clan, and acquaintances will all receive the benefit. / Now, therefore, I admonish you: you should each exert yourselves.
