樂天常有願。願以今生世俗文筆之因。翻為來世讚佛乘轉法輪之緣也。今年登七十。老矣病矣。與來世相去甚邇。故作六偈。跪唱於佛法僧前。欲以起因發緣。為來世張本也。

Letian has constantly had a vow: wishing to turn the causes of worldly brush and writing in this life into conditions for praising the Buddha vehicle and turning the wheel of the Dharma in future lives. This year I reach seventy: old and ill, the distance from future lives is very close. Therefore I have composed six gāthās, kneeling to chant them before the Buddha, Dharma, and Saṅgha, wishing to initiate causes and arouse conditions to serve as a foundation for future lives.
