○若洗手時先用灰擦七度去穢。手背亦然。次用泥擦七度淨之。手背亦然。次用皂團或皂角。或木屑。或二桑葉皆可。

When washing the hands, first use ashes to rub seven times to remove defilement, doing likewise for the back of the hand. Next, use earth to rub seven times to purify them, doing likewise for the back of the hand. Next, use soapballs, honey locust pods, sawdust, or two mulberry leaves—any of these is permissible.
