9.16

雲水之人不暫休。問君著甚苦來由。異鄉彼此皆為客。無事相干且縮頭。行與住坐與臥。兩片唇皮只管播。是是非非誰箇無。也須檢點自家過。出家兒著便宜。袈裟不是等閑披。桑田不耕親不養。不修道業更何為。閻老子不𭢹攞。據爾所作因。還爾所作果。涅槃堂裡叫阿爺。要行不得行。要坐不得坐。正與麼時。是爾是我。

People of clouds and water do not rest for an instant. / I ask you, what misery brings you to this? / In a foreign land, both you and I are guests; / with nothing concerning you, just draw in your head. / Walking and standing, sitting and lying down, / two lips just keep babbling away. / Right and wrong—who is free of them? / You must also examine your own faults! / Children of the pravrajyā get a good bargain; / the kāṣāya is not worn lightly. / Mulberry fields you do not till, parents you do not support: / if you do not cultivate the Way's endeavor, what else will you do? / Old Yama will not let you off! / According to the causes you have made, / you will be repaid with the fruits you have made. / Crying 'Father!' inside the Nirvāṇa Hall, / wanting to walk, you cannot walk; / wanting to sit, you cannot sit. / Right at such a time, / is it you, or is it me?
