2.32

You have already left home, titled 'one who quiets the mind.'
Unattached to defilement and confusion, you revere only the Way.
Your aspiration enters into purity, like jade and like ice.
You should cultivate the scriptures and precepts to rescue the spirit,
So that sentient beings receive protection and kin are delivered as well.
How is it that with no [spiritual] mind, you drift and sink with the mundane,
Indulging your four great elements and giving free rein to your five sense roots?
Virtue of the Way consequently wanes, and worldly affairs grow deeper.
Leaving home in such a manner, you mingle with the dust of the world.
Now, therefore, I lay down admonitions: may you open and awaken your spirit!
