Defiling conditions are easy to approach; the karma of the Way is hard to accomplish. If one does not understand the various differentiated conditions right before one's eyes, one will only see the winds of external sense-objects raging intensely, withering and devastating the grove of merits; the fire of the mind blazes fiercely, burning up completely the seeds of bodhi. If your thoughts of the Way were like your emotional thoughts, you would have accomplished buddhahood long ago. Act for the assembly as you would for your own body, and both your tasks and others' will be accomplished. When you do not see others as wrong and yourself as right, naturally those above will be respected and those below treated with deference. The Buddhadharma will constantly manifest before you, and in speck of dust after speck of dust afflictions will be liberated.
