The Zichi says: All Buddhadharma does not go beyond the three trainings. Because sentient beings' confused minds become delusion, and moving thoughts form karma. Due to karma they incur retributions, with saṃsāra without end. If one wishes to escape the suffering fruit, one must eliminate the suffering cause. Therefore, first treat their karma with śīla; next, clarify their delusion with samādhi and prajñā. Because karma is divided into good and bad, the two practices of cessation and action counteract each other. Because delusion is only dullness and distraction, the two dharmas of samādhi and prajñā counter and break it. An illness is cured due to medicine; capacities rely on teaching to practice. After that, karma is exhausted and delusion eliminated; feelings perish and the nature is revealed. Although the gates of the teaching are vast, how could they exceed this?
