莫只忘形與死心。此箇難醫病最深。直須提起吹毛利。
要剖西來第一義。瞠却眼兮剔起眉。
反覆看渠渠是誰。若人靜坐不用功。何年及第悟心空。

Do not merely forget the physical form and deaden the mind; / this illness is the hardest to cure, the most profound. / You must directly lift up the hair-severing blade, / needing to lay bare the primary meaning of the coming from the West. / Stare wide with your eyes and raise your eyebrows; / look repeatedly at that one—who is that one? / If a person sits quietly without applying effort, / in what year will they pass the examination and awaken to the emptiness of mind?
