釋曰。當以智慧鑽注一境。以方便繩善巧迴轉。心智無住。四儀無間。則聖道可生。瞥爾起心。暫時忘照。皆名息也。

Explanation: One should focus on a single object with the drill of wisdom and skilfully turn it with the cord of skilful means. When the mental faculty is without dwelling and the four deportments are uninterrupted, then the holy path can be born. Stirring the mind for an instant or momentarily forgetting illumination is in every case called 'pausing.'
