尊者阿那律陀。尊者難提。尊者金毘羅。共住林中。後先乞食。各歸坐禪。至於晡時。先從坐起者。或汲瓶水。能勝獨舉。如不能勝。則便以手招一比丘。兩人共舉。各不相語。五日一集。或兩說法。或聖默然。

"Venerable Aniruddha, Venerable Nandika, and Venerable Kimbila lived together in the forest. One after another they begged for food, and each returned to sit in meditation. When the late afternoon arrived, whoever rose from sitting first would fetch water in a pitcher. If he could carry it alone, he lifted it; if he could not lift it, he would beckon a monk with his hand, and the two together would lift it, neither speaking to the other. Once every five days they assembled, either to discuss the Dharma or to maintain noble silence."
