若要超凡入聖。永脫塵勞。直須去皮換骨。絕後再甦。如寒灰發焰枯木重榮。豈可作容易想。我在先師會下多年。每被大棒無一念遠離心。直至今日。觸著痛處。不覺淚流。豈似爾等咬著些子苦味。便掉頭不顧。

“If you wish to transcend the ordinary and enter the sagely, and forever escape dusty toil, you must directly shed your skin and change your bones, reviving after dying out, like cold ashes bursting into flame or a withered tree flourishing anew. How could you consider this easy? For many years in my late master's assembly, though repeatedly beaten with the great staff, I never had a single thought of departing. Even to this day, when touching the painful spot, tears flow unconsciously. How could I be like you all, who turn your heads away and pay no regard the moment you taste a little bitterness?”
