1.67

假饒文殊放金色光。與汝摩頂。師子被爾騎來。觀音現千手眼。鸚哥被爾捉得。皆是逐色隨聲。於爾自己有何利益。要明己躬大事。透脫生死牢關。先須截斷一切聖凡虛妄見解。十二時中。回光返照。但看箇不是心不是物不是佛。是箇甚麼。切莫向外邊尋討。設有一毫佛法神通聖解。如粟米粒大。皆為自欺。總是謗佛謗法。直須參到脫體無依。纖毫不立處。著得隻眼。便見青州布衫。鎮州蘿蔔。皆是自家所用之物。更不須別求神通聖解也。

Even if Mañjuśrī were to emit golden light and rub your crown, and the lion were ridden by you; even if Avalokiteśvara were to manifest a thousand hands and eyes, and the parrot were caught by you—all these are pursuing form and chasing sound. What benefit do they bring to you yourself? If you want to clarify the great matter of your own person and break through the prison barrier of birth and death, you must first cut off all delusive views of sacred and ordinary. Throughout the twenty-four hours, turn the light around to reflect inward, and merely inspect: 'Not mind, not a thing, not buddha—what is this?' By no means search outside. Even if there should be the slightest bit of Buddha Dharma, spiritual penetrations, or sacred understanding, no bigger than a grain of millet, all of it is self-deception, all of it is slandering the Buddha and slandering the Dharma. You must investigate until you completely cast off reliance, reaching the place where not a hair is established; open your single eye, and you will see that the Qingzhou cloth robe and the Zhenzhou radish are all things for your own use; there is no need to seek other spiritual penetrations or sacred understanding.
