1.80

既曾於無字話提撕。不必改參也。況舉起別話頭時。曾參無字。必於無字。有小熟因地。切莫移動。切莫改參。但於二六時中四威儀內。舉起話頭。莫待幾時悟不悟。亦莫管有滋味無滋味。亦莫管得力不得力。拶到心思不及意慮不行。即是諸佛諸祖放身命處。

"Since you have already brought to attention the phrase 'the character Wu,' there is no need to switch and investigate another. Moreover, when you bring up another huatou, having previously investigated 'the character Wu,' you must have some slight familiar ground with 'the character Wu.' By all means do not move, by all means do not change your investigation! Just during the twelve periods of the day and within the four postures, bring up the huatou. Do not wait for when you will awaken or not awaken; do not mind whether there is flavor or no flavor; do not mind whether you gain strength or do not gain strength. When pressed to the point where mind's thinking cannot reach and mental deliberation cannot function, that is precisely where all Buddhas and all patriarchs abandon body and life."
