“The gate of studying the Way has nothing extraordinary; it requires only washing away the seeds of karmic consciousness accumulated under the sense faculties and sense objects for immeasurable kalpas. If you can merely eliminate emotional thoughts, sever false conditions, and have a mind like wood and stone regarding all realms of worldly craving and desire, then even though the eye of the Way is not yet clarified, you will naturally accomplish a pure body. If you encounter a genuine guide, you must diligently draw close to him with all your heart. Even if you investigate without reaching complete penetration, or study without attaining completion, once it has passed through your ear faculties, it will forever become a seed of the Way. Lifetime after lifetime you will not fall into the bad destinies; birth after birth you will not lose a human body. As soon as you emerge, hearing once, you will awaken to a thousand things.”
