此日而食。占五紀之或乖。畏天之威。虞六沴之將作。故徇民情而救護。盍依佛力以禱禳。由是謹發誠心。命僧諷誦經呪。用伸救護。所冀日精速賜還光。伏願五色開而黃道明。照臨下土。群陰消而陽德盛。昭回于天。

An eclipse on this day portends that the five regulators may be discordant. Fearing the majesty of Heaven and anxious that the six pestilences are about to arise, we comply with the people's feelings to rescue and protect; how could we not rely on the Buddha's power for prayer and apotropaic ritual? Therefore, we respectfully generate a sincere mind and instruct monks to chant sūtras and mantras to extend protection. We hope that the sun's essence will swiftly be granted the return of its radiance. We humbly pray that the five colors unfold and the ecliptic shine bright, illuminating the earth below, that the host of yins disperse and the yang virtue flourish, brilliantly turning in the heavens.
