職掌大眾齋粥。一切供養務在精潔。物料調和檢束局務。護惜常住不得暴殄。訓眾行者循守規矩。行益普請不得怠慢。撫恤園夫。栽種及時。均俵同利。二時就厨下。粥飯食不異眾。粥飯上桶。先望僧堂焚香。設拜然後發過堂。

His office oversees the assembly's porridge and midday meal; all offerings must be pure and clean. He blends ingredients, supervises kitchen duties, and protects and cherishes the permanent assets, never wasting them recklessly. He instructs the postulants to abide by the rules, and in serving and general communal work they must not be remiss. He cares for the garden laborers, planting in season and distributing benefits equally. For the two meals, he dines in the kitchen, eating porridge and cooked rice no different from the assembly. When the porridge and rice are loaded into the buckets, he first burns incense facing the Sangha hall, makes prostrations, and only then dispatches them to the hall.
