凡住持兩序特為茶湯禮數勤重。不宜慢易。既受請已依時候赴。先看照牌明記位次。免致臨時倉遑。如有病患內迫不及赴者。托同赴人白知。惟住持茶湯不可免。慢不赴者不可共住。

Whenever the abbot or the two ranks offer tea and hot water with special hospitality, the protocol is diligent and grave; it should not be treated with negligence or ease. Having accepted the invitation, one must attend according to the scheduled time. First look at the illuminated board and clearly note your seat in order to avoid fluster and confusion when the time comes. If there are those who are afflicted with illness or pressed by internal urgent needs and cannot make it in time, they should entrust a fellow attendee to inform [the host]. Only the abbot's tea and hot water cannot be excused. Those who arrogantly fail to attend may not dwell together [with the community].
