We see that excessive rain brings disaster, preventing the use of resources; the hundred streams overflow, leaving the people with nowhere to rest. This is brought about by the collective karma of sentient beings, yet Heaven's covering is without partiality. Therefore, we respectfully generate a sincere mind, establish a ritual arena to pray for clear skies, and daily instruct monks to chant sūtras and mantras, reverently beseeching the holy ones. We hope that our prayer for clear and fair weather will swiftly be granted efficacious manifestation. We humbly pray that stubborn clouds across the four wildernesses be swept away, that cloudy pestilence imperceptibly dissolve, that the bright sun shine in the mid-heavens, its light illuminating everywhere, so that the five elements each accord with their order and the myriad creatures all fulfill their lives.
