The 2 scriptures above, totalling 2 fascicles. In the reign of Emperor Wu, the foreign Tripiṭaka master Dharmamati—translated into Qi as Fayi. During the Yongming era, he translated them at Waguan Monastery in Yangzhou for the śramaṇa Faxian, who was then the Sengzheng (Rectifier of the Saṅgha). Faxian had initially journeyed through the Western Regions in the third year of the Yuanhui era of the Song, obtaining the Sanskrit manuscript of this sūtra and a Buddha's tooth in Khotan. The translation of this scripture was circulated and transmitted down to the present. As for the Buddha's tooth, in the first month of the third year of the Putong era of the Liang, several men carrying weapons suddenly knocked on the gate at early nightfall, claiming that a slave of His Highness of Linchuan had fled, and that someone reported he was up in the Buddha's Tooth Pavilion, requesting that the pavilion be opened to search the monastery. Following their words, the monastery opened the pavilion. The ringleader went before the seat of the Buddha's tooth, opened the reliquary, took the tooth, made three bows, wrapped the tooth in a brocade napkin, and went off circling east of the mountain. Down to the present, its whereabouts have never been known.
