The above one work is in one fascicle. Compiled by Śramaṇa Shi Sengcan of Daxingshan Temple. Sengcan's secular surname was Sun, and he was a native of Chenliu. In his youth he left home and was fond of itinerant study; north and south of the Yangzi and Yellow rivers, there was nowhere he had not passed through; west and east of the Guanlong region, he had trodden everywhere. He travelled through the three kingdoms, covering Qi, Chen, and Northern Zhou; wherever there was a Dharma seat, he unfailingly attended it. He was skilled in raising difficult questions and adept at broad inquiry. At present he is the foremost master of Mahāyāna among the Twenty-five Assemblies. Therefore he composed this treatise to shed light on and praise the Mahāyāna. The 'ten kinds' are: first, unobstructed; second, equal; third, adverse; fourth, favorable; fifth, receiving; sixth, suppressing; seventh, deluded; eighth, dreaming; ninth, mutually identical; tenth, the Middle Way. All cite canonical texts of sūtras and treatises, and their evidence is thoroughly systematic. It is also an expedient door of skill-in-means for beginners.
