The one work above, in sixty fascicles. Composed by five hundred arhat disciples of Kātyāyana more than six hundred years after the Buddha's parinirvāṇa. Appears in Baochang's Catalogue. During the reign of Emperor Wen of the Song, the Western Regions śramaṇa Buddhavarman—also called Fotuo, translated into Liang as Juekai—at the Xianyu Palace Monastery within the city of Liangzhou, in the fifth year of Yonghe, translated it for Mengxun's son [Juqu] Qian. The śramaṇa Daotai served as scribe; Huisong, Daolang, and more than three hundred monks of renown and virtue examined and verified the text and meaning, taking two full years to complete it. It comprised one hundred scrolls in total. The śramaṇa Daoting composed the preface. When the Northern Wei destroyed the Liang, the scriptures and teachings were burned, and forty fascicles were lost; down to the present, there should correctly be sixty fascicles, yet Wang Zong's Catalogue states there are one hundred, which is based on the original. Today, there are one hundred and nine fascicles in circulation; this was presumably divided by later people in recent times.
