自四明諸嗣最顯著者十餘師。子孫有繼者唯廣智。神照。南屏。三家為光。盛守家法。禦外侮。人能弘道。作諸師列傳十一卷。背宗破祖。失其宗緒者三數人。作雜傳一卷。有功教門。事遠失記者。作未詳承嗣傳一卷。

Among the various successors of Siming, there were more than ten masters who were most prominent; those whose descendants continued were solely the three houses of Guangzhi, Shenzhao, and Nanping, which shone brightly, vigorously keeping the house rules, warding off external insults, and being persons capable of magnifying the Dao. I have composed the Biographies of the Masters in eleven fascicles. For the three or four persons who turned their backs on the school, destroyed the patriarchs, and lost their lineage, I have composed the Miscellaneous Biographies in one fascicle. For those who had merit in the school of teachings but whose records were lost due to antiquity, I have composed the Biographies of Successions Not Yet Detailed in one fascicle.
