胡宿字武平。常州晉陵人。學問文章。當世推重。治平三年。由樞密副使出鎮杭州。每來謁岳師。𧫎詢妙道。躬執弟子禮。師安坐不少遜。

Hu Su, styled Wuping, was a native of Jinling in Changzhou. His scholarship and literary compositions were esteemed by his contemporaries. In the third year of the Zhiping reign, from Vice Commissioner of Military Affairs, he went out to garrison Hangzhou. Whenever he came to visit Master [Bao]yue, he inquired into the marvelous Way, personally performing the etiquette of a disciple. The Master sat at ease without yielding in the least.
